SOTA Team Adventure …

The SOTA team is on a juice feast! After watching the documentary, Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead, the entire team was excited to take on the challenge of drinking (eating) nothing but fresh squeezed vegetable and fruit juices or herbal tea for 30 days. Some of the team members are even shooting for 60 days.

Of course, during the first few days, all we could think about was all the things we couldn’t have…there was lots of drooling over things like popcorn, hamburgers, coffee. However, we have now all settled in to the fast and seem to be doing very well. Doing it as a group, with all the support and camaraderie that entails, has been a real blessing!

Taking inspiration from our elementary school days, we have created a large chart with each of our names on it, where we can chart our progress. While it may seem silly, there is a surprising amount of psychological satisfaction to be had from adding a star to the chart to signify another day completed!
We would like to encourage any one reading to watch the documentary, which we have reviewed below. Who knows, maybe you will also be inspired to ‘Reboot Your Life’.

Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead

This is an amazingly motivating documentary for anyone who has any type of health challenge and is open to discovering the wonders of the body’s ability to heal itself.

The story revolves around two individuals: Joe and Phil. Joe is overweight and has tried everything to clear an autoimmune condition that causes him to break out in hives all over his skin.  Joe turns to juice fasting —you might call it a juicing feast, to try and reset or ‘reboot’ his body. During his fast, he also travels across the US, with his juicer and a generator in the back of his car, talking to people on the streets about food and health. As a result of this juice feast, as well as changing his diet and exercise routine, Joe is not only able to clear up his skin condition but also loses nearly 100 pounds of excess weight.

During his cross America trip, Joe meets Phil and introduces him to juicing.  Phil’s story is almost unbelievable, transforming from a depressed and obese truck driver—suffering from the same autoimmune condition as Joe, in addition to many other health problems— to a fit and happy human being. It is an inspiring story for anyone who seeks to improve their health and restart their life.
